Connect X / Twitter
Connect an X bot and use an allowlist to control public mentions and replies.
1. Understand the public workflow
The X plugin receives mentions of your bot and posts public replies. Begin with your own allowlisted account and a question suitable for public viewing. Its current scope is mentions and replies; DMs, original posts, likes and follows are outside that scope. Official X guide ↗
2. Prepare API access
Check the X plugin in your installed build. For a local-link installation, prepare the source checkout described in the documentation. You also need a bot account, an eligible OAuth2 app and its authorized user refresh token. Check access and charges in the X developer console.
3. Limit senders
Follow the configuration example for bot identity, OAuth and allowFrom. Use numeric user IDs, not display names or handles. Review the effective list in the administrator's X replies page. Start with your own test account.
4. Verify a public reply
From an allowed account, mention the bot with a simple public question and read its reply in that thread. For missing replies, check openclaw channels status --probe, OAuth, permissions, allowlists and model quota. Keep refresh tokens and host backups private.
